This class focuses on dangerous magic and how to defend oneself from these spells. Contrary to many rumors that fly around, students are not taught how to cast actual Dark Magic; they simply learn about it. After all, in order to protect yourself from evil, you have to understand evil. Lessons will be both practical and theoretical in nature, involving bookwork, tactics, dueling, and so on. This class is a requirement for all those who wish to become Aurors later in life. Others who excel in this class may also be employed privately as corporate security officials, personal bodyguards, teachers, defense consultants, Ministry Law Enforcement Officers, or any other mode of employment that may require extensive knowledge in defense.
