In the wizarding world, blood purity is a common source of debates amongst wizards. There are many who believe that pureblood witches and wizards, descending from a long line of magical ancestors, are superior to anyone with Muggle heritage and that only purebloods should be taught magic. However, despite the popularity of this opinion in the past, nowadays it is really only taken seriously by those ancient wizarding families who are stuck in their old-fashioned ways. It's been proven numerous times that Muggleborns are just as capable of learning and performing magic as a pureblood wizard. Of course, to counter this argument, many purebloods will claim that these "Mudbloods" stole their magic from elsewhere and should be thrown into Azkaban straightaway.
